Why I Started Mod10.

It all started with a little idea that I had in my head when I was thirteen years old. I wanted to start a website called Modern 10. On the website, I wanted to write about ten characteristics that I thought every modern woman should have. For some reason all the characteristics started with the letter “F”. To be honest, I can’t remember all of them but some of them include, Faith, Fortitude, Fitness, Family, and Friendship. Mod10 is an homage to a thirteen-year-old girl who had a mission to help others become their best selves.

Years later, here I am! Throughout college I have realized that most students are so invested in their academics and extra-curricular activities that they forget what lies ahead; the job market. Internships, networking events, interview practice, and resume writing get put on the back burner until the last semester of senior year or even later. The purpose of Mod10 is to help young men and women bridge the gap between education and professional opportunities.

We are living in unprecedented times. College students and recent graduates all over the country are entering a very unpredictable work environment after investing thousands of dollars into their degrees. The truth is, none of us can wait around to find the right opportunity to come knocking on our doors. We have to be proactive and steadfast with our professional goals. So many of us want to take charge of our careers but don’t know where to start. I TRULY believe that dream jobs are achievable despite our GPAs, hardships, where we went to school, or any professional blind spots.

I hope that Mod10 gives me the opportunity to help other students who have a willingness to succeed in their careers!
